Why Should You Head To Bull Island For The Annual Christmas Dip - Dublin Visitor Centre

Why Should You Head To Bull Island For The Annual Christmas Dip

Are you bold (or should we say crazy?) enough to go for a festive dip?

The tradition of going for a Christmas Day swim in has been around for many years in Ireland. Every year more and more people are brave enough to jump into the sea on December 25th.

Normally each participant does it in aid of charity and the sips are organized all around the Irish coast.

If you are still trying to choose a location for your dip, we would advise you to go to Bull Island and pop into Happy Out café right afterward.

On the 25th of December, Happy Out choose to fundraise for St. Francis Hospice in Raheny. Providing specialist palliative care to people around North Dublin City and county, the charity is a voluntary organisation that supported 1,600 patients and their families in 2017.

Brian Hanratty of Happy Out, says about their initiative: “we actually decided to raise for them as they are very local and a lot of our regular customers would have family members in the hospice.

It felt right to do something for the local hospice and give back locally to those who have been so good to us since we opened”.

Enjoy your post-swim breakfast with some stunning views! All proceeds from the day will go directly to the charity.
