From Dracula to Punch & Judy to a recording studio session
Planning a family visit to Dublin? Dublin’s Temple Bar is a hive of activity and a stroll around the cobbled street wields an amazing array of activities for the whole family.
The Dublin The Dublin Visitor Centre team recommends taking younger visitors to The Ark, a cultural hub in Temple Bar where children can explore their creativity with a programme of world class performances, exhibitions and creative workshops including art and drama classes. The programme of events changes every couple of weeks so you can always expect something different each time you visit. Just hop off the City Sightseeing Dublin bus at stop 9.
Still in Temple Bar is the ever popular National Wax Museum Plus, a favourite among children for generations. The Wax museum has moved into the interactive sphere with a Green Screen video room and a fully functioning recording studio for kids. With the dramatic chamber of horrors and figures from Ireland’s popular culture and recent history, the National Wax museum Plus is a guarenteed hit with children of all ages. Located in Foster Place opposite Trinity college and just around the corner from the Dublin Visitor Centre on Grafton Street, beside stop 8a on the City Sightseeing Dublin bus route, this great family activity is very accessible.
For that extra special day out with the kids, the Lampert Puppet Theatre has to make the shortlist . Take the DART (Suburban Rail) south to Monkstown to enjoy a unique children’s show like no other. This one-of-a-kind family-run show and puppet museum is one of the magical family experiences that will stay with you long after you’ve left Dublin.
