The first of the Greek Film Festival!
Immersing yourself in the any of Dublin’s cultural groups is a great way to see an often overlooked side of the city. And there’s nothing like a Cultural Festival to get involved and make some friends along the way. This April get geared up for the first Dublin Greek Film Festival! This 3 day event running from April 23-26 features an array of Greek movies and Cultural events happening in some of Dublin’s top venues.
With a wide array of movies on show from classics with internationally established reputations to newer cutting edge movies by up and coming directors, film buffs will be ecstatic to see some of their Greek favourites on the silver screen. The festival is working with the New Theatre, Filmbase and the Chester Beatty Library to bring the best of Greek culture to Dublin and each venue will be hosting a myriad of events over the four day weekend. The Chester Beatty Library will be screening movies and hosting a special Traditional Greek Dance workshop on Saturday the 25th with the other venues focused on screening features and shorts depicting Greek life.
The Festival, in its first year, is a wonderful new addition to Dublin’s busy festival calendar. With all the venues in or around Temple Bar, access is easy and who knows? You may discover a new favourite movie among all of these cherished Greek classics. Many of the shows are in the late afternoon, meaning you can head out to Corfu on Parliament Street for some traditional Greek Fare afterwards!
