Metallica are set to play the legendary Co Meath venue in 2019
Slane Castle have announced that Metallica are set to play the in the county Meath venue in 2019 with owner Lord Henry Mountcharles, wow that is a mouthful, confirming the news in an announcement at the castle this morning.
Mountcharles went on to say that Slane Castle is looking for something that is brash, and is real rock n roll. With the aim of this year’s event to not only follow in the footsteps of Guns N Roses, but to top it!
”I wanted to show Slane’s rock’n’roll roots are alive and well for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes you get to a juncture where the lyrics of a song like Nothing Else Matters really resonates.” (credit: independent.ie)
James Hetfield, Robert Trujillo, Lars Ulrich and Kirk Hammett will play on June 8 as part of the WorldWires tour, fulfilling their promise to Irish fans that they would play here in 2019.
It’ll be the band’s first Irish gig for a decade. With the band being supported by Swedish band Ghost and Norwegian rockers Bokassa but no other support acts have been confirmed as of yet.
