Sea kayaking in Dublin - Dublin Visitor Centre

Sea kayaking in Dublin

Enjoy a coastal adventure in Dalkey

Most visitors to Dublin do not realise it but Dublin is an ideal spot for fun and adventure in the great outdoors. The city is surrounded to the east by the sea and to the west by the Wicklow mountains.  For the adventurers among you Kayaking.ie run amazing sea kayaking in Dublin, trips to Dalkey Island! Operating out of the idyllic heritage town of Dalkey (home to Ireland’s rich and famous and worth a visit in its own right) this kayaking tour is designed for complete beginners, with a short ‘how to’ training session before you hit the water. The guided tour which leaves from Bullock Harbour takes you on a leisurely paddle in the Irish Sea along places of interest including the Martello towers that dot the coastline. Watch out for our friendly Irish seals who populate the rocky coastal outcrops – some of the younger ones even swim around the kayaking group, even under the kayaks, to take a closer look!

Once you reach Dalkey Island time is spent exploring the abandoned island and its Martello tower.

A healthy paddle back to the harbour and what seemed like an hour was actually three. Slip out of your wet suit (kayaking.ie provide all the equipment) and wander up the street to the Queens Pub for a steaming bowl of chowder and a tasty pint! A perfect day out! And the good news is that in less than 30 minutes, you’re surrounded by the hustle and bustle of Dublin city centre again.
