Five Reasons To Visit Teelings Whiskey Distillery

When you visit Dublin you will likely sample the famous Irish Whiskey.

Teeling’s Whiskey Distillery is the perfect place to do exactly this. Here are five reasons we think you should visit.

1. It’s Dublin’s first new distillery in over 125 years

Yes, that’s right – Dublin has not seen an opening of a whiskey distillery in over a century. Dublin, once home to at least 37 distilleries, suffered a massive loss in whiskey distilleries all the way until 1976 when there wasn’t any left at all.

The once world capital of whiskey distilling is now finally getting back on its feet. This is as good reason as any to visit the establishment that is reinvigorating a dead industry.

2. They are a multiple award-winning distillery

The Teelings Whiskey Distillery has received accolades such as Best Irish Single Malt for the Teeling Whiskey 24 Year Old Single Malt, Best Irish Single Malt (no age statement) for the Teeling Single Malt, Best Irish Single Grain for the Teeling Single Grain as well as the World’s Best Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards as recently as 2019.

3. It is one of Dublin’s few working distilleries

With roots dating back to 1782 it is fitting that the logo of Teelings Whiskey Distillery is of a phoenix rising from a pot still, symbolises the re-establishment of the Teeling whiskey brand. The fact that it is also one of Dublin’s few working whiskey distilleries makes it a unique way to experience the production of whiskey first-hand.

4. It is Irish family owned and run

The site of the distillery in The Liberties is close to where Walter Teeling, an ancestor of brothers and founders Jack and Stephen Teeling, had established a distillery on Marrowbone Lane in 1782. With roots dating back to the 18th century, it is fitting that the logo of Teelings Whiskey Distillery is of a phoenix rising from a pot still; symbolising the re-establishment of the Teeling whiskey brand.
