Dublin’s Top 5 Free Halloween Events

Have a spooktacular night.

One more sleep till the big Halloween night 2019! Just when you thought that picking a Halloween costume would be the hardest decision you had to make during the holiday, nothing is worse than trying to come up with the perfect place to go and show it off! We have a list of free events happening in Dublin to inspire you!

Dockers & Demons Festival

The Dockers and Demons Festival which is a celebration of ‘Oíche Samhna’ takes place again this year in the Irishtown/Ringsend/Docklands area from 24th  – 31st October. The Theme for 2019 is The Seven Deadly Sins.

The Festival includes a Cabaret, art installation, local street parties, lots of spooky fun workshops, entertainment, walkabouts, and educational tours and it concludes with the Dockers & Demons Circus of Sin in Ringsend Park from 19.00 on Halloween Night. Look out for the Seven Demons!

The Cauldron of Smithfield

On 31st October, in Smithfield Square, there will be some fantastic activities for you to sink their teeth into, including the 300ft zip line and the daunting Giant Climbing Wall.

This year, they are also delighted to introduce our new ‘House of The Damned Scare Tent’ and ‘Night Creatures Parade’ brought to you by local youth organisations and young people. They have also added ‘Halloween Town’, a special area for families with younger kids. Featuring Magic Shows, Puppet Theatre, Circus Acts and more…

The ‘House of The Damned’ Scare Tent will be open during the following times: 16:30 – 17:30 / 17:45 – 18:45 / 19:00 – 19:30, so make sure to get there early to ensure your place.

They have all of your favourites again this year, including; Dublin Circus Project, Big Screen Playstation Tournaments, Food Stalls, Art Workshops, Art Installations, Giant Bouncy Castle, Face Painting and much more…

The Main Stage will feature some very special local talent, SingStar Finals, Dancers, Drummers, DJs and special guest rap outfit Temper-Mental Miss-Elayneous and DJ FunkTom. The night will be hosted by MC Andrew Stanley and will feature spot prizes and special guests.

Ballyfermot Halloween Festival

There are some spooktacular activities taking place in Ballyfermot for Halloween.

Highlights include a Halloween Pumpkin Party in MarKievicz Park, a Zombie Fun Run in California Hills, The Haunted House in the Equine Centre and a Fireworks display in Cherry Orchard Park.

The Big Scream Festival

The Big Scream Festival will take place from the 22nd – 31st October. Ten spooktacular days of ghoulish fun will take place in the communities of Sean McDermott Street, Summerhill, Ballybough, North Strand, Sheriff St. and North Wall for Halloween this year.

Festival frights and delights for young and old include scary movie screenings, Gothic torch lit walking tours, a psychic encounter, launch of guide to Bram Stoker’s North Inner City, Halloween craft workshops, dress-up bingo with Count Dracula, doggie costume competition, Boo at Ballybough! public interview with Dacre Stoker, wicked afternoon teas and a World Record attempt to be the biggest group of people dressed a vampires!

The main Spectacle on the spookiest night of the year will be a carnival – style celebration on Seán McDermott Street where families are invited to enjoy the festivities.

Finglas Fright Night Halloween Festival

The Annual Finglas Fright Night Halloween Festival will take place at the Civic Centre, Mellows Road on 31st October from 18:00 to 21:00. This year the ghoulish entertainment will include a Path of Misery, Colm Dawson’s Magic Show and Fancy Dress competition. There will also be Fairground attractions including, a Merry go Round, Kiddies Roller Coaster, Teenage Terminator, Chair-o-Planes and Obstacle Courses. A live interactive art exhibition will also take place.

Music on the night will be provided by bands from the Finglas Youth Resource Centre and ABBA Girls. The night will conclude with a fireworks display.
