Rock down to Dublin’s Grand Canal Dock!!
The Dublin Dockland’s Festival is an exciting summer event taking place this weekend – Saturday and Sunday, May 16th and 17th. Centered around Dublin’s Grand Canal Dock there will be a range of exciting activities for all the family if last year’s successful event was anything to go by!
Daragh from the Dublin Visitor Centre spoke with Enia, one of this year’s festival organisers.
Daragh: Can you tell me Enia what events are on at the festival?
Enia: This year we, the Dublin Dockland’s Festival feature a selection of water-based activities including the main attraction of wakeboarding. With over 60 million fans of these watersports worldwide we know this is going to be a hit with the crowds this year. There are going to be 8 international wakeboarders competing in the event!
Daragh: What other activities will feature at this year’s festival?
Enia: Other exciting activities include Kayaking around the Grand Canal Dock. We will have the water golf event off the jetty which our Taoiseach (Prime Minister) tried and enjoyed last year! And for families there are activities from barge rides to a special Rubber Duck Race!
Daragh: Sounds like it going to be a popular festival – how many people are you expecting this year?
Enia: Last year the event attracted over 80,000 people and we are hoping for similar numbers this year!
