- The Phoenix Park is Europe’s largest walled park and has an 11km perimeter wall designed to encase the 1750 parks. The Phoenix Park is a mecca for animal lovers as it home not only to Dublin’s famous Dublin Zoo but also a herd of wild fallow deer. The park also features the People’s Garden, a Victorian-era park within a park with rose gardens and a beautiful pond. The Papal cross marks the spot where late Pope John Paul II gave Mass to over 1 million people in 1979 and where Pope Francis will address mass crowds in August 2018. You can hire out a bike out from Dublin City Bike Tours to make the most of seeing this incredible park.
- Merrion Square is known as the Jewel of Georgian Dublin and is heavily influenced by the nearby National Art Gallery. Each weekend 200 renowned and emerging Irish Artists exhibit original works on the railings of this great City Centre Park. A wonderful statue of Oscar Wilde nestles on the edge of Merrion Square where our favourite wordsmith surveys his hometown. Father Ted Fans regularly pay hommage legendary Irish Comedian and satirist Dermot Morgan at his ‘Jokers Chair’ Memorial.
- Since 1880, St.Stephen’s Green has been a green oasis in the hustle and bustle of Dublin’s Shopping and Business District. At twenty-two acres, St. Stephen’s Green is the largest of Dublin’s Georgian Parks. It is laid out in a square format and features, landscaped flower beds, a large pond with a wide variety of ducks and swans. The central area has a series of fountains and a Victorian bandstand which plays host to lunchtime concerts. For children, the park contains an impressive enclosed playground with equipment for all ages.
