R & R for the Chernobyl Children in Dublin
For the second year running, City Sightseeing Dublin are delighted to welcome the North Dublin Chernobyl Children International recipients and their host families on a magical day out in Dublin. Veteran Broadcaster and all around softie Joe Duffy will be on hand to meet the group and to see them on their way. For over 25 years the Chernobyl Children International has been bringing young people affected by the 1986 nuclear disaster to Ireland. Many of the Chernobyl children are disabled , live in underfunded orphanages or the extensive contaminated zone in Ukraine and Belarus. The yearly visit to Ireland is the only respite they get from the harsh conditions back home.
The Group, led by Trina Gilchriest, will hop on board the iconic City Sightseeing Dublin red hop on hop off bus at Parnell Square for a fun Tour of the City. Following on from the City Tour, they will go to the Wax Museum Plus to check out the all of the wax works as well as the interactive green room where they can star in their own videos. The Children and their host families will pay a visit to the delectable Sweet Republic on Bachelor Walk for a Mad Hatters Tea Party with Manager Amy Coyle. The Sweet Republic are famous for their artisan ice cream, tasty cakes and sinfully good pancake stacks making for a very sweet treat for the group and their host families.
The incredible success of the Chernobyl Children’s International Rest and Recuperation Programme can be attributed to the hard work, goodwill and dedication from the Host Families and founder Adi Roche. City Sightseeing Dublin and our partners are looking forward to continuing to support the incredible work of the Chernobyl Children International and naturally their Host Families. The Children from the region can they return home knowing that the CCI, Host families and all of their Supporters have not forgotten their plight.
